Elwood Visit, Willie Max joins the Family
and
Jerren's Birthday Weekend
The weekend before the Superbowl weekend, Conor and Jimmy made plans to sail/paddle a sailing canoe from Melbourne to Ft. Pierce. Meghan and Elwood drove down to Ft. Pierce to pick them up and transport them back to the starting point in Melbourne. So we got to spend some time visiting with Megs and Elwood while she waited for the boys to call for a ride. It was a cold rainy trip, but they were up for the challenge-made the trip in less than 24 hours.
Around this time, I saw a picture of a chihuahua who was being fostered by a friend of ours. His little eyes met mine and my heart jumped. I set up a play date with Darrae and Willie and Tadpole at a local park. Willie and Tad met and were like long lost brothers. Willie was healing from an abusive situation--he was found wandering the streets of Miami very thin, with a broken pelvis and sight in only one eye. But whatever misfortune Willie Max endured he came through it forgiving and loving mankind unconditionally. He joined our pack this month and I want to thank Darrae and MY DOGS ROCK INC. everyday for taking him in, fostering him to good health, and giving him the chance to live the rest of his life on Forever Weekend Farm with his new forever family. He is sweet, smart and an awesome watch dog. How lucky are we that he found us!
February 10 was Jerren's birthday and we have a tradition in our family of celebrating birthdays all month. So we actually started Friday night with Meghan, Conor and Elwood coming to join in the fun. Pat bought tenderloins for all of us----Jimmy, Courtney, Charlotte and June partied with us, too. Saturday morning some of the group surfed at the beach in the morning, some of us lounged around the farm with coffee. Firewood was cut and boating was ruled out due to the wind--so we bought several slabs of ribs and collards from Tillman's BBQ and partied some more.What a treat!!
Sunday, still windy so the boats stayed put and the gang partied at the farm with the kids riding their four wheelers, adults riding the golf carts, and fish frying in a cooker---we had an awesome red snapper fish fry party-thank you Josh and Jessica! The night ended with all of us roasting marshmallows around the fire pit---Happy Birthday Jerren!!!
