BABY SHOWER FOR JERREN
"Let's Feather Her Nest"
July 27, 2013

The excitement of a baby coming took hold on our Forever Weekend Farm Fam and we decided to honor the mother-to-be, Jerren, with an awesome party--crazy circumstances led us to do this at Jerren's new home-a perfect place for entertaining a crowd!
The Hostesses
Courtney, Jessica, Me, and Meghan

Oh, do we love to celebrate!
And when it was time to honor Jerren
and her first baby-to-be, Ama,
we wanted it to be very special-right down to every detail!
We decorated a comfy wicker rocker for the mother-to-be to sit. Joe took on the project of refinishing Jerren's childhood desk and chair set as a center piece to hold the arrangement of gifts in the living room.
Let this party begin!

We were having so much fun getting ready, but luckily,Courtney quickly went around snapping pictures
as we set up for the brunch so we hopefully captured all the loving care and details of this special event.

The diaper cake was covered in vines of daisies and
held two of the many colorful cloth birds
I made from Ama's quilt scraps.
Below Courtney's yarn covered A
added a special touch to the serving table.

We had such fun with birds, nest, and flowers!
A circle of crisp white napkins border a vine and bramble nest.
Courtney set up wonderful diaper raffle (love the little nest on ticket box),
a bird cage that held special thoughts for Ama cards,
and she organized a fun Baby Scattagory Game!

The Thank You favors were rustic burlap bags filled with a pack of pink allysum flower seeds and a delicious coconut macaroon cookie bird nest filled with little white chocolate covered coffee beans for eggs.

Got this idea for the bird off of pinterest--
so again used Ama's quilt scraps to decorate.
"A little Tweet for being so Sweet!"

Bloody Mary and Mimosa Station
Stirrers for the Bloody Marys were
appetizers on a stick (little stacks of bread, bird & butterfly shapes of cheese, olives, pickles, and shrimp) or a simple ribbon of crisp maple bacon.
(Table cloth was cross stitched by my mother when she was a young girl.)
Details make it special!

The writing looks light in this picture,
but the chalk board held sweet sayings
and sweet pictures of a pregnant Jerren.

This picture frame was bought at Kirkland's years ago and never used so I dug it out of my closet, gave it a coat of green paint, some soft sanding, and silk pink roses, & a little nest with pink jelly bellies--this will be cute with some of the frames covered with chicken wire and baby pics of Ama!
It added a perfect rustic touch to table.

Water bottles sweetly decorated by Jessica
nestled in with the chilled bottles of champagne.
Mimosas were made with fresh Natalie's Orchid Island Juices-
Jessica brought orange, orange/pineapple, and strawberry!

We continued the bird and nest theme
with flower filled bird cages as center pieces on the buffet table!
Cages were found at an on line craft site and flowers lovingly selected at Michael's.
The table was covered with Courtney's delicious deviled eggs, her homemade perrogies, pimento cheese tea sandwiches, an elaborate cheese tray, large Gulf shrimp, her fresh fruit salad,
& broccoli slaw, and adorable veggies in a tiny glass of dip, Keara's lima bean and corn salad, Kimi's Greek pasta salad, Donna's potato, bacon, & sausage quiches, and brown sugar, bourbon glazed ham.

Dessert Table
Jessica baked a luscious hummingbird cake and an array of lemon and strawberry cupcakes decorated with beautiful icing, candy nests, & strawberry butterflies,--Meghan and Suzi decorated my grandmother's milk glass teacups (given to my grandmother as a wedding gift so many years ago) with tangerine bows and bird charms.

Meghan and Elwood
made the adorable chocolate bird nests set on a butterfly plate for the dessert table!

Cake topping was a large macaroon cookie nest
adorned with 3 white chocolate truffle eggs!

Every detail so very special!

Monique, along with Meemo and Christie, traveled a long way from Panama City!
MeeMo and Oma can't wait to get Ama in our arms!

Jerren received so many wonderful gifts!
Impossible to post a picture of every beautiful gift opened, but Jerren was very moved by the generosity and specialness of all the presents--the detail in wrapping and bows and thoughtfulness was very much appreciated!

Below are a few pictures

Beautiful quilt made by Aunt Kimi

Gators Quilt also made by Kimi

Guest enjoyed passing around the gifts!

Beautiful Quilt from Meemo!!!

Aunt Nan made awesome
gator outfits for Ama

Barb added her famous monogram touch to not only gifts of Ama hats and dresses, but bread basket liners for Jer and me.

We moved some of the desserts to the living room
so guest could enjoy them while gifts were being opened.
(This little desk set brought back such good memories for Joe and me-table cloth is one of the disappearing nine patch quilts made for Ama.)

GAMES BEGIN
Ashley Harbor won the diaper raffle
&
Aunt Suzi won Baby Scattagories

It was nice that guests got to see Ama's nursery.
Jer and Pat have created a very calming welcoming baby room.
We are all so ready for Ama's arrival!

I am so proud of my grandbaby's beautiful Mama!

Special thank you to all the shower guests and all the time, energy, and special detailed touches the hostesses put into this beautiful event!!!
