September Happenings

Where did September Go?

What a busy month--Our four day summer work week is over and Joe and I are back to working five days. That leaves us with only Saturday and Sunday to play catch up. So we fill those two days up! This month we have had record rain which has increased the need to mow the pastures. We finally had to buy another mower so we could do this chore together. And what a fine mower we found! When you mow as much as we do -you get excited when you get a great machine.  It is called Z Beast by Toro. It is a 60 inch cut with a roll bar, shade roof, and cup holders. Now, I have always loved and have been impressed with my other mower-The Scag 61 inch mower-it is a work horse and the last 10 yrs we have worked it almost into retirement, and now we have the Z Beast which really lives up to its name! It is faster then the Skag and powerful, but does not cut as close to fences. You know you have a lot of mowing power when the Z Beast's roll bar catches the clothes line and with only a split second of backward hesitation it pulls the wooden support poles right up out of the ground!!
Other monthly happenings--We enjoyed mowing & boating on Labor Day, traveling to Brooksville for a family gathering to celebrate Chad's graduation and birthday,  fishing almost every weekend in the pontoon boat, and hanging out at the inlet beach. Joe attended the Jethro Tull concert at Sunrise Theatre, I bought a new smartphone which outsmarts me everyday, enjoyed Friday night dinners with the Sellers and Goulets, celebrated June's first birthday,  celebrated Jer & Pat buying a new home and now we are celebrating Elwood's return to Florida!

Elwood's been up north enjoying chilly
weather & pumpkins.
On his way back to Florida now.

Great day for fishing-that is it was great for the osprey!

We were treated to several osprey diving all
around the boat hoping to snag a mullet--and they did!

September ends with
Jer and Pat moving into their new home!

By the end of the month--Jerren and Pat settled into their new home! What an exciting month of offers, counter offers, paperwork, insurance hunting, inspections, the closing, and then moving!! All day Saturday, Sept. 29th, boxes and furniture were loaded into the new garage-thank you Will, Dave, &  Joe. By Saturday night it looked like Pat and Jerren lived there! What a house! So much room and yet already cozy and very comfortable. The house sits in the middle of a lush acre surrounded by privacy hedges and beautiful fencing--on a cul-de-sac, in a friendly, family neighborhood, close to work at the Vero hospital, and only 5 miles from me!
Saturday night we celebrated at my house with a steak dinner--and my cousin Bobby from New Jersey joined us. So happy he met Jer and Pat and friends and was able to see their house.  Sunday morning--Jerren cooked  her first brunch in her new kitchen--steak, eggs, & grits. Sunday night at 10:00 pm Joe, Pat, Jerren and I relaxed and celebrated with a great dinner.  It sure felt good to see so much hardwork, so much progress, and so many dreams come true. How wonderful it was floating in Jer and Pat's pool under a harvest moon.
