Every year Joe
buys bags of Halloween candy anticipating
a parade of young treat-or-treaters ringing the doorbell
at Forever Weekend Farm.
And for the last 10 years we have not had one brave soul
muster up enough courage to walk down our long, dark, dirt driveway
that appears to lead to no man's land.
What person in their right mind would drive out in the boonies
where on a chilly October night only moonlit clouds
casting dancing shadows would lead you
to our lone cottage tucked under a ghostly hammock of towering palms?
Year after year
an ever hopeful Joe sits alone
on the front stoop with his bucket of candy
and
toothy jack o' lanterns.
But this Halloween, October 31, 2012......
Jerren and Pat now own a house
in a friendly, family-oriented neighborhood full of kids.
You can imagine Joe’s joy
when Jerren and Pat invited us to help them
give out Halloween candy.
And then the most delicious cherry
on the huge dollop of our whipped cream and cake…….
Elwood came to help greet trick-or-treaters!!!!!
