The $1000 Egg and A Saturday with ELWOOD

The Incredible Edible Egg
This is a $1000, organic, free roaming, hand raised egg. $1000 you may ask, but my sister Suzi, who also now has a flock reminded me of the time, money and materials we both invested while we waited for this first egg. Oh, but the joy of owning chickens and finding your first egg! Definitely worth $1000! Here it is sitting on some chicken scratch napkins my sister Kimi made for me.

And here is this wonderful, precious egg next to a store bought, but free range, organic competitor.

And here they both are in a pan of butter.
The yolk was a rich orange color.
--and even though it looked smaller
that little shell held a lot of egg!

Joe's first egg breakfast!
Eggs over easy, rosemary, butter potatoes, left over pork chop,
and the last of Meghan's homemade bread!

Elwood came to spend the day at the farm
on Saturday with Conor--
while Megs continued her yoga training in Melbourne.
Since Elwood loves a straw, he now has two new straw cups-one for Cheerios and one for ice water-
we will save the sippy cups for Ama!
He shared lots of Cheerios with Willie!

After saying hello and cock-a-doodle doo to the chickens,
Elwood enjoyed some watermelon by the pond!

Penny waits for leftovers, Bubby watches for the chickens.

Okay, I know, a zillion pics of him eating watermelon!
Can't help myself --every blink of his sweet little eyes, every adorable smile, every handsome expression deserves an Oma kodak moment!

Tillman, Tilly, Bettina, and Rose are waiting for leftover watermelon rinds!

Had to share this beautiful banana plant growing by the pond.

Back to Watermelon Grins!

Can't come to the Farm
without a dip in the red neck swimming pool!
We make good use of this horse trough by filling it with nice, clear, cool artesian well water.

And Elwood loved it!
So here goes--a couple more adorable Elwood pics!

Penny also enjoys visiting the farm -
-here she is after enjoying a roll in the sooty fire pit!

Working on motor boat legs

Learning to be buoyant without holding on

We are taking this nice and slow--no pressure--perfect pool to learn  the beauty of buoyancy!
And every second he became more confident, brave, and proud of himself!

A little milk and a good nap after swimming!

Jerren and Ama!
The new picnic table Jessica painted so artsy for the Farm!
And Jer and I found the little green set at Habitat for Humanity!
Two more months till Ama!!

After a nap we are ready for more swimming!

Yes, see how I am kicking my feet!

When is Hannah getting here?
I want to show her how to swim in this horse trough!

Motor Boating!

Oh, such fun to spray Dad and Uncle Pat!!!

Oh, yes, I do love this pool--water fountain and all!!!
